Bridging the Gap

The first of two pedestrian bridges – one on either side of Washington Avenue – is now up over Highway 58. The view from the east heading toward town is especially striking. Our public works crew is doing a great job keeping this project on schedule and on budget. When it’s finished, it will not only look great as a gateway to the community, but it will also offer much, much better pedestrian access over Highway 58. Councilor Bill Fisher posted a few photos on his blog showing both the great view to the west and the actual installation.

This time around we report on Golden’s 2008 budget, including efforts to increase funding for road replacement. Golden police target noise in the Beverly Heights area. City Council votes to seek funding support for a pedestrian bridge accessing the new light rail station at the Jefferson County building. Also discussed are the public notification process, proposed changes to the historic preservation code. And we share some news from the campaign trail.
